A Growing Part of What We Do: Hospitality Construction
At Creative Contracting, we’ve always been a company that does a little bit of everything. Residential, commercial, public works, renovations, tenant improvements. Our projects have taken us into a lot of different spaces and industries. Lately, though, we’ve been seeing more and more opportunities in hospitality, and it’s been exciting to watch that side of our work grow.
There’s something different about hospitality projects. The finished space isn’t just somewhere people work or live. It’s somewhere people come to spend time. Restaurants, lounges, casinos, event venues and hotels all have to be functional, durable and inviting, while also creating an experience for the people who walk through the doors.
We've Been Doing This for a While
Hospitality isn't necessarily new territory for us. One project that comes to mind is The Hive, a historic building we had the opportunity to work on that has since become a popular brunch and wedding venue. Working with an older building like The Hive brings its own challenges, but it also gives you the opportunity to be part of preserving a space with a lot of character and giving it a completely new life.

Projects like that are some of our favorites because you get to see the transformation from beginning to end and then, after the project is finished, you get to see how people actually use the space.
Hospitality Work Beyond Oregon
Our hospitality work has also taken us into Arizona, giving us the opportunity to work in a different market and take on projects outside of the Pacific Northwest. We’re currently working with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs on a remodel of the lounge area at the casino. It’s a great example of the type of hospitality work we enjoy because we’re working within an existing, active environment rather than starting with a blank slate.
Projects like this require a lot of coordination and flexibility. You’re thinking about the construction itself, but you’re also thinking about the people who are using the facility, the employees working there and how the space needs to function once the work is complete.
That balance is something our team has become very comfortable with over the years.
We're Excited About Where Hospitality Is Headed
One of the things we enjoy most about being a general contractor is that no two projects are exactly the same. We get to work with different owners, designers, architects and trades, and every project brings a new set of challenges.
Hospitality has been especially fun because of the creativity that goes into these spaces.
We’re seeing more investment in restaurants, lounges, event spaces, casinos, boutique hotels and other destinations where people want to gather. At the same time, many existing hospitality spaces are being renovated and reimagined to better serve the people using them today. That creates a lot of opportunity for contractors who can adapt to different types of projects and work within an existing space.
And for us, that’s one of the best parts.
We may not be a company that only does hospitality construction and we don't want to be. We like that our work takes us in different directions. But we’re definitely enjoying seeing hospitality become a bigger part of what we do.
From a historic building that has found a new life as a brunch and wedding venue, to work in Arizona, to our current project with the Warm Springs Tribe, we’re proud of the hospitality projects we’ve been a part of so far.
And we’re excited to see what comes next.
